Scar Therapy

Restore Scar Therapy & McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release (MSTR)

Scar therapy can benefit anyone after a surgery or injury trauma. It is very gentle and should not be painful. It is particularly useful for people with a tendency to pathological scarring, larger scars, adhesions or an excess of fibrosis. There are various methods that can be utilised to stimulate scars and the surrounding area. Scar therapy, in some form, is commonly recommended by medical professionals to help during scar tissue formation. It is important to remember that scar therapy can also be beneficial to promote health in mature scars (at any time after 24 months).

Scar therapy and scar tissue release can help care for your scar and the underlying tissue. We can focus on issues related to a surgery or injury trauma such as:

  • Pain after surgery or injury
  • Limited movement or tightness of the scar.
  • Pulling or Puckering
  • Fibrous scar tissue or scar adhesions
  • Itching, Sensory dysfunction or Numbness
  • Reducing global symptoms observed in the body e.g. referred pain and tightness, changes to movement patterns, organ function changes.
  • Emotional wellbeing and acceptance

A scar therapy appointment in the first 6 months after the scar is created is helpful even if you are not experiencing any unwanted complications, in order to promote healthy scar tissue formation to enhance functional and cosmetic results but it is never too late to benefit from this modality.
